DispensaryVA provides administrative support only. Licensed operators, authorized managers, and qualified professionals retain all regulatory, product, clinical, financial, and legal decisions.

An opening audit confirms readiness before customer activity begins. It should be short enough to complete consistently and detailed enough to show what happened when a check failed.

Check readiness

Record opening time, staff present, access status, POS availability, cash count, inventory exceptions, required safety checks, and manager sign-off. The opening and closing coverage plan assigns roles. Use the daily closeout checklist to connect the prior day’s unresolved items.

Every failed check needs a temporary control, owner, and next review. A signature without evidence does not make an unavailable system ready.

OSHA’s recommended practices provide general safety-management context for documented checks.

FAQ

Can the store open with an exception?

Only under the written operator procedure and required authority. Record the exception and decision before opening.
