Store Operations
Published October 12, 2026. Turn incomplete opening checks into a concise decision brief for accountable on-site leaders.
The opening checklist should distinguish verified readiness, blocked items, decisions required, and out-of-scope observations. Use the location’s approved operating standard. Remote staff can assemble evidence and contact owners but cannot authorize a regulated location to open.
Capture expected state, observed state, source or witness, time, affected area, immediate control, evidence location, and decision owner. Avoid vague phrases such as issue handled. If facts conflict, preserve both versions.
Safety, security, required staffing, access control, system availability, regulatory display, and inventory-control exceptions follow their approved escalation paths. Routine administrative gaps remain visible without being mixed with conditions that require immediate leadership judgment.
Lead with unresolved conditions, required decision, latest useful response time, and safe alternatives already authorized. Do not pressure the owner with an invented deadline or imply that silence is approval.
Record who made the decision, the allowed action, temporary controls, follow-up owner, and completion proof. Review repeat opening exceptions to determine whether the checklist, staffing plan, system, or training needs revision.
