Dispensary shift schedule handoff checklist

Staffing and Hiring

The schedule tells a team who is present. The shift handoff tells them what changed. Keep the handoff short enough to read before work begins and specific enough to prevent a second investigation.
Record who arrived, who is absent, the approved coverage change, and any role that needs a manager. Avoid placing sensitive employee details in a general shift note. Route attendance or accommodation information through the proper owner.
Use three statuses: ready for action, waiting on another person, and blocked. Each item needs an owner, next step, and review time. A note that only says "follow up" is not a handoff because the next person must reconstruct the task.
Include unresolved service issues, product holds, equipment problems, and records that need review. Use the system reference instead of copying private customer data into a shared document. Link to the controlled record when the next person has access.
The outgoing lead signs that the note is complete. The incoming lead acknowledges the priorities and raises conflicts before the shift gets busy. Once a matter is resolved, update the record so tomorrow's handoff does not carry stale work.
