Dispensary product quarantine log: what to record

Lab Compliance and Inventory

Quarantine separates a product from normal sale or movement while the operator determines what should happen next. The log must make that separation clear to every shift.
Record the product and package identifiers, quantity, location, date and time, person placing it on hold, reason, and related source record. Use the system identifier rather than a handwritten abbreviation. Limit access according to the site’s procedure.
The METRC compliance guide provides a place to review track-and-trace responsibilities. Pair it with the receiving exception log when the hold began at delivery.
Name the role that may release, return, destroy, or otherwise dispose of the item. Include the decision date, evidence reviewed, and system action. A person should not release an item solely because the shelf needs space.
At each shift handoff, confirm the physical item and log entry still agree. Investigate missing identifiers, moved items, or quantity changes immediately and preserve the original record.
The CDC infection-control guidance is an authoritative reference for general control concepts, while product-specific disposition must follow applicable cannabis rules and the operator’s procedures.
The system and physical location should reflect its restricted status according to the approved procedure.
Review it at every relevant handoff and formally age open holds on a defined cadence.
