Seasonal inventory preparation for cannabis dispensaries

Inventory Operations

Seasonal preparation is not a guess about demand. It is a controlled review of records, capacity, exceptions, and decisions the operator is authorized to make.
Record the dates, locations, responsible owner, and source reports. Note known closures, events, staffing changes, vendor lead-time concerns, and storage constraints. The dispensary reorder point review can support the inventory discussion without replacing approved purchasing rules. Reconcile the starting records with the month-end inventory review.
Resolve duplicate products, stale status, unposted receipts, quarantine items, and open returns before comparing periods. Label assumptions as assumptions. Do not turn an incomplete report into a confident forecast.
List each issue, its source record, owner, next action, and review date. Separate a data correction from a purchasing decision so the team knows which question remains open.
Use approved contacts and document what was requested, when, and what was confirmed. The FDA cannabis resources provide a useful reminder to verify product and safety questions with the appropriate authority.
After the season, compare the plan with actual exceptions and stock decisions using the records available. Capture process improvements, not invented percentages or unsupported demand claims.
