A cannabis dispensary product recall workflow

Compliance Operations

A recall workflow should make the first response obvious: identify the notice, preserve the source, isolate affected product, and notify the accountable operator. Staff should not improvise a disposition for regulated inventory.
Capture the notice identifier, issuer, date, affected SKU or package tags, quantity, and person who received it. Pause the affected item in the approved system and physically separate it when the procedure requires. The product quarantine log can hold the evidence. Use the compliance evidence index to connect the notice to records.
Record every affected location, sale or transfer review, customer-notification decision, and final disposition approval. Preserve original quantities and timestamps. If the notice is ambiguous, escalate the question instead of inferring the scope.
The FDA recall process is an authoritative general reference; state cannabis procedures may impose additional requirements.
Only through the operator’s written procedure and required approval. Keep evidence of the decision and disposition.
