Business Continuity
Published October 12, 2026. Test recall contacts, acknowledgements, backups, and evidence handling without initiating a real recall or directing product activity.
Use a clearly labeled simulation approved by the recall or compliance owner. Define locations, communication channels, participants, start and stop time, and prohibited actions. The exercise must not change live inventory status, customer messages, or regulator records.
Send the approved simulation notice to primary and backup owners and measure acknowledgement under the local plan. Record invalid contacts, time-zone gaps, unavailable roles, and failed channels. Do not use personal contact data beyond approved emergency procedures.
Confirm that authorized participants can find the current plan, role assignments, product-identification fields, communication templates, evidence location, and escalation contacts. Use synthetic data. Missing fields become findings, not guesses.
Include simulation markings in subject lines and documents, notify monitoring teams, and define who can stop the test. Any real event discovered during the exercise exits the simulation and follows the actual incident or recall procedure.
Record acknowledgements, delays, unreachable contacts, stale documents, decisions, owners, and retest dates. A successful contact test shows communication readiness only; it does not certify legal compliance or execution of a real recall.
